Tom is one of the most selfless and giving men I have ever met. He's one of the few church leaders I know in the Tri-Cities, TN area that understands the value of making yourself available to the community in more ways than the standard "my office door is always open" line.
My family was a twice a year type church going family. In 2008 we went there for Christmas Eve service and after experiencing the friendly pastor and members, we started going every week and love it! I have four children ages 4-10, and they are welcome with loving arms every week. I was saved as an early teenager but spent most of my life thinking church was a chore that everyone pretended to enjoy. After moving to Johnson City my wife and I searched for a church for several years before we walked into The Journey. I walked out realizing that this was a place I WANTED to come back to every time the doors opened. The congregation really have their focus set on worshiping God and learning how to get closer to Him. And Tom, the Pastor, proved to be not only a wonderful teacher but a great friend. And the music is awesome. There are a lot of good churches in the tri-cities, but The Journey is the church I have been looking for all my life.
I truly enjoy getting to know everyone and worshiping with our band that likes to do a little bit of everything. There is variety of contemporary songs and we also work in some classics.
